Click Scolmore Launches Key Operated Fan Isolation Switch With Lockable Fuse

Click Scolmore Launches Key Operated Fan Isolation Switch With Lockable Fuse

Click Scolmore has expanded its popular Mode wiring accessories range with the launch of a new Key Operated Fan Isolation Switch with Lockable Fuse, designed to provide secure control, safe isolation for mechanical maintenance and improved protection for ventilation systems across a wide range of residential and commercial applications.

The new switch has been developed to address a growing requirement for greater control over ventilation systems, particularly in social housing, private rental accommodation and managed buildings. By requiring a key to operate the switch, it assists in preventing unauthorised tampering or accidental disconnection of extractor fans, ensuring systems continue to perform as intended.

This is particularly relevant following the introduction of Awaab's Law under the Social Housing Regulation Act 2023, which came into force in October 2025 and requires social landlords to investigate and remedy damp and mould hazards within strict timeframes. By helping to keep ventilation systems operational, the new switch can support compliance strategies aimed at maintaining healthy indoor environments.

Combining a key-operated switch with a lockable fuse carrier, the unit provides an additional level of protection during maintenance activities. Engineers can securely isolate the ventilation system, helping prevent accidental re-energisation while work is being carried out.

The product has been designed with contractors, specifiers, landlords and facilities managers in mind, offering a practical solution to help maintain safe and effective operation of ventilation systems in occupied buildings.

Suitable for a variety of applications, including social housing, private rental properties, hotels, student accommodation and public sector buildings, the switch provides greater confidence that ventilation systems will remain operational when required. For social housing providers in particular, maintaining uninterrupted ventilation is increasingly important as part of wider effort to meet Awaab's Law requirements and improve resident wellbeing.

The new Key Operated Fan Isolation Switch with Lockable Fuse forms part of Click Scolmore's ongoing investment in specification-led wiring accessories that help improve safety, functionality and ease of maintenance across modern installations.

Like all products in the Mode range, the new switch is covered by Click Scolmore's 25-year warranty. The switch is manufactured using the same high-quality urea-formaldehyde material as the rest of the Mode range, offering inherent antimicrobial and antiviral properties as well as excellent durability and resistance to everyday wear.
