Scolmore partners with SkillELECTRIC

The company is well known for its commitment to developing the next generation of electricians, and Scolmore Group’s latest collaboration sees them partner with SkillELECTRIC to support the organisation’s competition to find the UK’s best young electrician.

The event, which is run in conjunction with WorldSkills UK, is designed to promote and showcase high standards and skills across the electrotechnical industry. Organised by National Electrotechnical Training (NET), the competition also has the Joint Industry Board (JIB) as its premier sponsor.

As part of its three-year agreement, Scolmore will be providing the competition with a range of products including smart lighting controls, video door entry systems and socket and switch accessories. Competitors will be using the products as part of a two-day practical challenge to install a complicated set of four circuits with various components and equipment.

The SkillELECTRIC UK final takes place in November during the WorldSkills UK Live event at the Birmingham NEC, the UK’s largest skills, apprenticeships and careers event. Over 70 different skills competitions will be held at the event, which will be attended by around 70,000 young people.

“We’re extremely grateful for Scolmore’s support,” said Carolyn Mason, chief executive of NET, organiser of SkillELECTRIC. “With the equipment provided by Scolmore it allows the competitors to work on modern systems and experience different equipment to what they may normally encounter during their work and training. We look forward to our ongoing partnership to support these talented young people.”

Marie Parry, group marketing director, Scolmore Group commented: “We are delighted to have the opportunity to get involved in this competition to find the UK’s best young electrician.   As a business we understand the importance of supporting the next generation of electricians. We have a number of directors currently working in the industry that started out as electrical apprentices and, through hard work and determination, have worked their way up to the boardroom.

“SkillELECTRIC provides a fantastic platform to showcase the best young talent working in the industry and also to highlight the range of opportunities that becoming an apprentice electrician can provide.”
