Scolmore wins prestigious international award

Scolmore Group’s innovative IEC Lock+ connector has won a prestigious ‘Best of Show’ award at the Interop Tokyo 2016 Exhibition.

Interop Tokyo is renowned for being a top global business technology event, showcasing the very latest in cutting-edge networking products, solutions and services from manufacturers around the world.  This year, the exhibition attracted more than 140,000 participants.

The Best of Interop Awards recognize exhibitors that have made significant technological advancements in specific areas. The winners in each category represent the products that the expert panel of judges believe have the most significant technical impact on their segment and are helping to move business technology forward. Scolmore’s IEC Lock+ product won the ‘Best of Show Award 2016’.

More than 500 companies and organizations exhibit at Interop Tokyo 2016, where they each showcase their products, solutions and services. A panel of expert judges selects the finalists in a range of categories, and the winners were announced at the show last month

The winning IEC Lock+ connector, entered by Scolmore Group and their Japanese partner AIM Electronics, builds on the success of the original IEC Lock first launched in 2010 and brings to market a more sophisticated model. It features a new release mechanism, which allows for disconnection from all sides. It requires no other equipment or special inlets to secure it, it is simply plugged into an appliance as you would a standard IEC lead. The red cage release mechanism also marks the new connector out from standard IEC leads to allow maintenance and other data centre staff to identify critical power sources.

IEC Lock+ has been designed to be implemented in areas where access is limited and ease of removal is of paramount importance. The new release mechanism clearly differentiates the product from other leads. This is especially important in data centres where there are likely to be thousands of leads and it may not be easy to identify critical and non-critical power sources
